Who is offering this ministry?
Rev Dr Anna Killigrew offers Skype-facilitated or retreat-based spiritual direction from an Australian desert spirituality perspective, based at Koora Retreat Centre, in Boorabbin National Park, in the Great Western Woodlands of Western Australia.
I am a member of Spiritual Directors International, which is a peer body for support in this ministry for which I am trained and equipped. I am a Veriditas certified labyrinth facilitator. I am an Anglican priest licensed for this ministry by the archbishop of the Province.
Prior to this ministry I was a Catholic, a parent of four, a secondary school teacher, an industrial chaplain on construction sites, a university chaplain and parish priest, so I have a listening ear for these contexts.
I hold a Doctor of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary. I am a mother, grandmother, and am married to Peter, also an Anglican Priest and facilitator at the retreat centre.
What motivates this ministry?
I find that ethical conduct flows from lived reverence for God, oneself, others and the environment. I live in wilderness Western Australia and find this environment is conducive for offering a listening, prayerful and discerning attentiveness to people who are seeking to engage the spiritual movements of their lives.
I find spiritual direction beneficial in my own life to balance contemplation and action in my spiritual journey.
How does the spiritual direction relationship operate?
I honour the dignity of the directee by respecting your values, conscience, spirituality and theology.
Face-to-face, telephone and online sessions of spiritual direction are characterized by privacy, acceptance, and confidentiality. I address legal regulations requiring disclosure to proper authorities.
Spiritual direction may take place on a walk, on the labyrinth, or any quiet bush setting, as well as in a counselling room or on-line environment.
I offer a written agreement between us to keep the nature of the relationship unambiguous, and I encourage feedback and review at regular intervals.
Although I believe it is appropriate to discuss psychological and relational matters in the context of spiritual direction, I am not a psychotherapist, nor do I provide such a service. I do not offer advice, but feedback about what I hear you saying, and ask questions that offer avenues for discovery. I can provide resources for your ongoing spiritual journey.
We agree to a defined session time and regularity, with a fee paid to Koora Retreat Centre by EFT by arrangement.
